This is about you.

She says, “Mmmmmummmm maa maa mmmmm,” and then …

No… not “Da Da” or “Daddy.” “Mmmmmmmummm maa maa mmmmm.” First words? Maybe. You certainly say it a lot when you’re with me and you want mommy or want to nurse or something to do with mom. And I couldn’t be prouder.

Now that was a couple months ago. But lately, you’ve stopped! Why? I don’t know. I think I have it on video somewhere. But now you’re saying “Da Da.” Which sounds sooooo sweet!  That’s right Muoi, “Da Da.”

We’re finally up and running!

So sorry for the delay here folks. Aslinchoi.com is now working again!!! Yes!! I know it’s about time. So for your patience, here are a video clip of our baby Aslin. Enjoy! (You’ll need Quicktime movie player to view these. If you don’t have it, please download it here.)

This one was precious. You were around 3 months old in in this first video. You were trying so hard to stand so early. But when we put you on your feet, you didn’t want to walk forward. You always took steps backwards.

Halloween and Thanksgiving

So back in October, we had your first Halloween. We all dressed up and took you to a nearby pumpkin patch, since you were too little to trick-or-treat. Malia dressed up as a nurse, daddy as a Jedi Knight, you as a pumpkin and mommy as the pumpkin vine that nourishes the pumpkin. Here are some pictures.

Actually, we did get one trick-or-treat in while walking to the pumpkin patch. A couple that were standing outside their apartment building were giving out candy to people. The guy thought that you were an absolutely adorable “carrot.”

“Oh what a cute carrot!” the man said, handing you a lollipop. Mommy and daddy did not want the guy to feel stupid so we said, “Yeah! Isn’t she?”

So November flew by really quick and before we knew it, Thanksgiving! We flew up to Sacramento to meet up with your Auntie Mary, Uncle Ron and family. Your first plane ride on Southwest Airlines. It was cool, because with you, we got to go on board the plane first, along with handicapped people. So we arrived in Sac-town. G-pa Roger arrived a little after us and you finally got to meet the person who we named you after, G-ma Betty, aka Elizabeth. She was so excited to meet you. Hopefully she’ll read this and leave a comment to you. She’s a very intelligent and strong woman whom your mommy and I admire and love very much. When you met her, you were all smiles. The two of you got along so well right off the bat! It was like you knew that you were named after her.

It was all food and smiles. We were extremely thankful to Uncle Ron and Auntie Mary for having us over every year for Thanksgiving. We are lucky to have such wonderful family and we are thankful for all the wonderful food that your mommy, Auntie Mary, G-ma Betty and Malia prepared.

Meeting Pou-Pou and Grandpa Joe

Uncle David is leaving for Ireland on October 11th. He is going to stay in Europe for three months and he may end up staying for a couple of years if he gets a job. He held us all tight before he left because we don’t know when we will see him again. Friends and family can keep in touch with what Uncle David is doing by going to his blog: danneker.blogspot.com. If they want to email him his address is danneker@gmail.com.

Saturday, October 7th, Uncle Mike, Auntie Martha and Daniela had a going away party for Uncle David. You actually met Auntie Martha the week before but she wouldn’t let us use her picture because she didn’t like how she looked. She made a wonderful meal-she is a great cook! Uncle Michael was letting you know about the dangers of drinking alcohol in this picture.

Friday night, October 6th, we got your new crib set up. You previously slept in a pack and play but it was getting too small for you. You liked moving around too much. You really were fascinated by your new crib and really seemed to like it.

Mommy’s other brother, Uncle David and his girlfrind Marlene were there to see you for the first time also.

You met your Uncle Mike, mommy’s brother, and his daughter, your cousin Daniela for the first time.

You also loved listening to the sound of the water falls and ponds.

The next day we went to the Los Angeles Arboretum. You really loved looking at all the beauiful flowers.

You instantly loved your Pou-Pou. I am sure it is because she and your mommy look so much alike.

Your mom’s mom, Pou-Pou and Grandpa Joe finally got to see you on September 29th. They drove all the way down from Spokane, Washington.

Wedding

Let’s see, when we last left off, Mommy had her birthday and Daddy finally updated your site. So now, hopefully we can catch you up to the present, because we’re a couple of weeks behind now.

Now let’s see… Mommy, you and I went to my old friend’s wedding, Uncle Kevin and Auntie Miriam, where Daddy got to see a lot of his old friends that hadn’t seen for a couple of years, now that we’ve all gone on our separate ways. Daddy’s friends all thought that you were adorable and when I asked them when they were going to have their little babies, they were a little scared about having one. Actually, I was too, before you were born, but now, I couldn’t imagine life without you. And I think that my friends were a little surprised when they saw that I had a little girl. I mean, who would’ve thought that I’d have a baby girl as cute as you?

Before you were born, Mommy and I knew that we want to breastfeed you and much the benefits there was in breastfeeding you. So after you were born, that’s what we did and that’s what you loved. You would breastfeed, breastfeed and breastfeed. You didn’t like the bottle at all when we tried to give it to you, even though there was breast milk in there. So when we finally tried again, one night, we were pleasantly surprised when I saw this …

WHOA!!! I tried letting you type, but I don’t think you’re at that level yet. But you laughed so I guess you’re going to be a computer nerd like Daddy! Apple Rules! LOL

We also recently discovered that you love to eat and drink just like the rest of us. You’d stare at us while we ate and reach up with your tiny little hands and make a sound that’s between a grunt and a moan; trying to tell us that you want some too. And so then we’d have to oblige and give you a little piece of rice or bread or fruit or something that was soft, since you didn’t have any teeth yet. And you love tea. Here’s you grabbing Ma-ma’s tea cup and taking a sip.
