New Look …

So, it’s been awhile since I’ve written anything. I’ve been in the process of moving your blog over to another server and redesigning your site, and YES!!!! I’m am finally done! So what do you thing? Well, it’ll probably look different in the future, so who knows what you’ll see. We’ll just say that this is version 2 (the one on the right below), since version 1 (the one on the left below) was on blogger.

So when I last left off and before the boys went back to Seattle, we went to Universal Studios for daddy’s office picnic, where you got to take a picture with Wolverine (who you were almost named after, if you were a boy. His real name is Logan. But I’m pretty sure that you’ll know that by the time you’re able to read this.) At the picnic, we all at a lot of food and chatted with my coworkers, all of whom thought that you were adorable. After the picnic, we walked around the park, where Julius and Jared went to the Nicklodean Water Soakin Wet area, or whatever it’s called and got absolutely soaking wet. Good thing it was a hot day. We then proceeded to the tour and a couple other things in the park, but since you were only a few months old, you didn’t exactly get to go on some of the rides or see all the shows. But if you want to see more pictures of what you did, click here.

Around that time, you were about 16 weeks old and a little over 24 inches tall. You were a tall baby! When mommy took you in for your 4 month check up, they said that you were in the 110 percentile for your height. Maybe when you grow up, you can be a basketball player, like your mom was in high school.

So life has been quiet at home since the Kelina, Ketura, Julius and Jared left. Well sorta quiet since Malia lives at home still, and she’s the loud one. But she’s hardly home so it has been relatively quiet lately.

Well, every Saturday or so, we go to visit Yeh-yeh and Ma-ma down in Buena Park which is about a 40 to 60 minute drive from home. You still don’t like you car seat, so you still cry. But sometimes you’ll fall asleep, if we’re lucky. We feel so bad for you when you squirm and try to get out of the car seat. But remember, tough love. It’s for your own good! And we love you, so hopefully you’ll understand that we can’t hold you in the car. It’s too dangerous.

Yeh-yeh and Ma-ma love looking at you when you’re sleeping and not crying. They love you so much and are always smiling whenever they see you. It’s so nice visiting them. That’s when Mommy and Daddy stop their diet and eat wonderfully delicious food from either a restaurant or Ma-ma’s fantastic home cooking. No wonder Daddy can’t lose weight. But it was also at their house that you discovered Baby Tad…

Mommy, soon realized not to get inbetween you two. Actually, I think you were just teething, not biting her.

Life has been wonderful with you now in our lives. We always have a happy and wonderful time with you around, no matter where we go or what we do. Whether it’s visiting your grandparents, uncles and aunties, going shoping, the Dodger Game or hanging with your sister and her friends. You’re just a fun baby to be around. Everyone says that you’re so cute and love to play with you, whether you want to or not.

But you are loved by everyone who meets you.

One of the things that I love most, is how much you love your mom. You guys are best friends. You laugh at her faces, her noises, and smile so big when she smiles and snuggles with you. I just love seeing how happy you guys are.

And here we are celebrating Mommy’s birthday. Mmmmm… Mommy’s birthday cake was so good and it looks so good now! It was Mommy’s first birthday with you. She was so happy. You looked at that cake with wonder in your eyes. You didn’t quite understand what it was for, but one of these days, you’re going to love blowing out those candles and making wishes.

Well… I gotta run for now. This will be continued so I can catch you up with all of the exciting things that have gone on.

This week in sports …

It’s been a sporting week in our household the past week and a half or so, and I’m am proud to annouce, that my baby girl, is now a real kid, because …

Real Kids Wear Black! Hahahaha!! I’m such a proud papa! Doning the silver and black for the first time brought a tear to my eye as we watched the Hall of Fame game with the Raiders versus the Eagles, which the Raiders won 16-10. It was also the year that the great blabbering John Madden was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame. Here’s a partial family photo …

The sane ones aren’t in it. But you know what, I think that you’re good luck for the Silver and Black, because ever since you were born, the Raiders haven’t lost yet!

Later on that week, it was “Time for Dodger Baseball!”

IMG_2908.JPG

So one day after work we gathered the available clan and headed to Chavez Ravine to catch the Dodgers play the Marlins. It was a nice and beautiful evening at Dodger Stadium. We all had a good time eating Dodger dogs and pizza. But you were too little to eat that stuff.

IMG_2938.JPG IMG_2946.JPG

And as you can tell from these pictures, you were really into the game and you actually really had a good time. You were looking around at everything, and cooing. It was really fun. If you’ve failed to notice then, the Dodgers won 4-0, getting their 17th victory in 18 games, their best stretch since 1899. I’d like to attribute that fact to the fact the you were in attendance of the game, because the next game, they lost 4-15. But I can’t blame you if you didn’t notice, you were only 3 and a half months old, and you have only recently started sucking your thumb…

Red Egg Party

On July 30th, Ye-ye and Ma-ma threw a Red Egg party for you.Ye-ye, Ma-ma and us

In Chinese culture, a baby’s first month birthday calls for a celebration. Proud parents introduce their latest addition to friends and relatives by holding a red egg party. Red egg parties have their origins in ancient Chinese culture. As in other countries, infant mortality rates in China were quite high prior to the medical advances of the twentieth century. A baby who reached one month of age was likely to survive, and so the event was celebrated.

IMG_2405.JPGGrandpa Roger

Your’s was actually held after the third month, because it was when the family was all able to get together at the same time. So many people came. All your sisters and brothers came home for it. Grandpa Roger came from Spokane and took care of all of us at home, cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner, using his famous ingredients of mayonaise and shake and bake. He brought in all kinds of groceries and fish that he caught.

IMG_2407.JPGWe all gathered at Ye-ye and Ma-ma’s house. (From left to right) Auntie Lyly, Cayden, Uncle Matt, came over. Auntie Shay, Uncle Dan, and Malachi flew in from Portland, Oregon. All of the family from all over came over and gathered at Ye-ye’s and Ma-ma’s house for lunch. Great grand Auntie Cecelia flew in from San Jose. Grand Auntie Yvonne and Uncle Ian flew in from Hong Kong.

Here’s a picture of some of the Grand Uncles and Aunties that came to the red egg party. (back row left to right) Uncle Tony, Uncle Michael, Auntie Mag, Ye-ye, Auntie Linda, Auntie Cathy, and Uncle Hay. (front row left to right) Uncle Larry, Auntie Janet, Auntie Cecelia, Ma-ma, Auntie Yvonne, Auntie Miranda, and an Uncle Phillip.

For dinner, we all went to the Happy House Restaurant in Artesia, CA, where family and friends all gathered and had a 9 course feast that featured dishes like Lobster, Shark Fin soup, Drunken Chicken, and Scallops. Uncle Matt bought Burger King for the kids. Everyone enjoyed the food and everyone who met you for the first time said how beautiful you were and how much you looked like daddy.

You worn the kimono-type outfit that your mom and I got you and a chinese gold pendant that Auntie Yvonne bought you from Hong Kong. (Auntie Linda, do you remember what was written on Aslin’s outfit in Chinese?)

(Everyone, please feel free to comment, if you’d like to add something or explain any symbolism or meaning that I may have forgot, or do not know about. Or just to comment anything you’d like. Thanks and love you all.)

Kelina

And at last, the Princess #1, Kelina. The timing was perfect. As soon as you woke up, we heard a knock on the door, and lo and behold, Kelina had arrived! She left Memphis, Tennessee, the day before and traveled all day and all night, until she finally arrived 2:30 am early this morning. She was very happy to see you and thought that you looked much smaller than she expected, because she had only seen a picture of you that your mom and I had sent of you when you were 8 weeks old. It was the perfect moment, and as you can see, you were very happy to see each other.

Smiling

I’ve been meaning to put this up for awhile. This is a series of pictures taken and put together when you were 6 weeks old. You’re so adorable when you smile. Well… even when you’re not smiling.

And by the way, I was holding you.

But then you weren’t exactly looking at me when you were smiling. You were looking at a lamp on the wall or something by it :p
